Azereos L
Dark Bay/Black Trakehner Colt
by Tenski out of Altara
Azereos was born in the very early hours of April 18. Once he was out, his protective mama didn't want anyone having anything to do with her new boy, so we were forced to leave well enough alone for the time being. The next day, though, Tara was glad to have a break. Her baby is a handful!
The name "Azereos" brought to our minds images of a stately stallion ready to wow the crowd in the dressage arena... scratch that. Azereos the Wild Colt has quickly picked up the nickname "Zee," as it is much more suited to his personality--and much easier to holler. After he attempted running laps around his stall (and promptly crashed) we decided to let him have his first glimpse of the great outdoors at a tender 30 hours old. He promptly took off, running laps around his mama and wholeheartedly ignoring her furious squeals. Then he came back and slammed hard into her side in what we can only assume must have been an attempt to leap over her back. Yes, "Zee" for sure.
We are hoping that Zee's future holds more than just insanity, as he was bred to be a jumper. His Shagya sire is a successful Intermediate level eventer and his mom has won at Level 6 show jumping, so this boy should have springs in his hind legs. Once he learns to use his brakes, we're anticipating a wonderful (and eventful) future for little Zee.

Zarya L
Black Friesian
by Malkieri out of Kandori
This sweet little filly was born only a few hours after Zee (made for quite the busy night!) and everyone present for her birth gasped with relief. If Zee is wild man of the property, Zarya is the stately princess. Alert, aloof, and without a trace of brainless hyperactivity in her body, she promises to be a wonderful dressage prospect and an all-around lovely horse to be around.
Zarya is owned by Jessica.

Rubina L
Bay Westphalian
by Rhetorical out of Katja
The tiniest foal we've had (and likely the smallest foal we will have for some time), Rubina is the type who could be overshadowed by elegant Zarya and madman Zee. Fortunately, she won't fall into the background--not if she keeps begging for attention! Rubina adores people and learned very early on that fingers are made for one purpose: scratching.

Iliachenva'ar
Chestnut Tobiano Oldenburg Filly
by Rhapsody out of Magic In the Air
The last of our Spring 2007 foals to be born, Iliachenva'ar ("Ilia" for short) came into the world quite peacefully and doesn't look to change her ways anytime soon. Like her sire, Ilia has a quiet intensity to her. While she has a definite unique personality, she does not shove it in your face like Zee or Ruby or command attention with her very presence like Yaya. She is generally content to stand back and watch the world go by, stepping forward every so often for the pats that she has learned humans are good for. She and her dam seem to have a backwards relationship; while Magic races across the paddock bucking and kicking like a wild beast, Ilia canters alongside, stretching her long legs but refraining from any sort of silliness.
Ilia was not bred for a specific discipline; as Magic is a successful Level 6 jumper and Rhapsody competes at Prix St. Georges dressage, Ilia could realistically go either way. With her quiet focus and propensity for learning, we are beginning to see what might be a fabulous dressage prospect.

Rhequirement
Black Tobiano Oldenburg
by Rhapsody out of Romance Novel
Rhequirement is the only LSH youngster who is not a homebred. He was born to another horse owner who later had to give up her show string. As he is a half-brother to our much-loved Iliachenva'ar and Kirsdarke, we happily accepted ownership! Rhequirement is far more devious than his half-siblings (though he certainly can't hold a candle to Zee!), with a tendency to entertain himself in any way possible--just like his dad.

Kirsdarke
Bay Tobiano Oldenburg
by Rhapsody out of Bakari
'Kersey' wants to be just like Ilia when he grows up... or so he says. He started tagging along after his big sister when he was only a few days old, and the attachment grew when the pair was weaned. Now, they are best buds, and can frequently be seen grooming each other in the paddock. Some LSH visitors get the idea that Kersey is a shy, reserved, unfriendly colt; but take him away from his sister, and he shows that he's a true Rhapsody foal, with plenty of personality and a very kind temperament.
